An all-party Indian parliamentary delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi arrived in Madrid on the final leg of its multi-nation diplomatic outreach to highlight India’s strong stance against terrorism and Pakistan-sponsored extremism. The delegation, part of India’s Operation Sindoor initiative, was welcomed by India’s Ambassador to Spain, Dinesh K Patnaik. During their visit, the group is scheduled to meet with Spanish parliamentarians, think tanks, and government officials to underline India’s efforts in countering terrorism, especially in light of the recent Pahalgam terror attack. Speaking in Madrid, AAP MP Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal said, “Our final stop is Madrid, where we’re engaging with the Indian diaspora and Spanish stakeholders. We’re here to convey India’s unwavering resolve, led by our Prime Minister, to defeat extremism.” Mittal emphasized India’s commitment to tackling terrorism beyond its borders. “We want to inform them how we outmanoeuvred Pakistan in Operation Sindoor. India not only aims to eliminate terrorism within but is also committed to eradicating Pakistan-sponsored extremism globally.” The delegation includes representatives from across the political spectrum, including Rajeev Rai (Samajwadi Party), Mian Altaf Ahmad (Jammu and Kashmir National Conference), Brijesh Chowta (BJP), Prem Chand Gupta (RJD), Ashok Kumar Mittal (AAP), and former ambassadors Manjeev S. Puri and Jawed Ashraf. The outreach in Madrid follows similar diplomatic efforts across Europe, as Indian delegations engage world leaders and policy makers to build consensus on the global threat of terrorism. India’s Ambassador to Latvia, Namrata S. Kumar, noted the effectiveness of the mission, stating, “The delegation clearly laid out the reality of cross-border terrorism India has endured, particularly from Pakistan. They stressed that such extremism is a global issue requiring a unified global response.” The Indian government’s Operation Sindoor has seen multiple all-party delegations dispatched worldwide, aiming to build international support for a coordinated fight against terrorism and to present India as a pillar of peace, unity, and resilience.
